These are the competition rules. For the rules of the romhack itself (no-damage, level locking, cap behaviour) see the home page. New here? Start with Getting Started.

1

Seeds are fixed, and you play them in order

Every competition gets a list of 20/30/40/50 randomly generated seeds. They are created the moment the competition is created and are locked once it activates. Nobody, including the owner, can change them after that.

Play them in list order. Your next seed is always shown on My Page.

2

Seeds are visible to competitors only

Seed values are hidden from everyone who isn’t in the competition, so upcoming seeds can’t be scouted or practised by outsiders. Warp routing is stricter still: it’s only ever visible to your own teammates.

Once a competition is finished, its seeds become public.

3

One run per seed, and your best attempt counts

Each seed records a single result per player. If the tracker reports the same seed more than once, the highest star count is kept, so a crash or a reconnect can never lower a score you already banked.

A run ends when the romhack ends it: a hit, a fall, a reset, or the win. The tracker reports the reason and it’s recorded as-is.

4

Only seeds on the list count

If you play a seed that isn’t in your competition, it is not counted toward the standings. It is filed as a personal practice run instead. The Monitor will warn you on screen when this happens, so check it if something looks off.

5

Teams are ranked by total stars

A team’s score is the sum of every star its players collect across all their seeds.

Because scoring is a total, teams must have the same number of players. A bigger roster would otherwise win on headcount alone. Even the teams up before you activate.

Ties are broken by, in order:

  • Highest single run (most stars in one seed)
  • Then alphabetically by team name

Individual streamers are ranked the same way: total stars, then best single run.

6

One active competition at a time

A streamer can only be in one active competition. You can’t accept an invite to a second one, and a competition can’t be activated if any of its players are already competing elsewhere. Finishing a competition frees everyone in it.

7

Finishing is final

When the owner clicks Finish, standings freeze, every streamer is marked offline and released, and the result goes into the record books. This can’t be undone.

Running a Competition

Roster size is set by your sub tier

Activating a competition requires a Twitch sub to WaffleSmacker, which covers the server costs. Your tier sets the cap:

  • Tier 1 → up to 6 streamers
  • Tier 2 → up to 12 streamers
  • Tier 3 → up to 30 streamers

Setup order

  • Create the competition and pick your seed count
  • Add your teams, keeping them equal size
  • Invite streamers by Twitch username; they accept on My Page
  • Assign everyone to a team
  • Activate, which locks the seeds and starts the competition

Seed count can only be changed while the competition is in draft. After activation it’s fixed.
